[Cricut] Get Well Card

I'm on a roll with the card making. This one follows the same template, but I had some trouble with the cricut on it. So I had to get creative with placement of the ribbon.

ORANGE AND BLUE

Stamp from Joy's Life, same spellbinder dye from before for the sentiment. Still grabbing ribbon out of the "I went nuts for ribbon once at Michael's" drawer. Whale from Create a Critter Cricut cartridge.

[Cricut] Happy Valentine's Day

One of my New Year's Resolution was to make more paper stuff with my Cricut. And woo, I have made my first batch of cards!

Confession, this is actually the 2nd, but I didn't like the first. I did some research and got a little more comfortable with it.

Recipe:
Random Ribbon from Michael's
Sentiment from Joy's Life
Sentiment cut with Spellbinder die
Cricut Cuts: Love You Latte.
Stamp Ink: Tim Holtz

I didn't have any brown paper, so I just inked in the brown portion. But I like it, makes it look more fluid.

It's simple, but that works for me. Hope you like it!

[Cricut] Glass Etched Cake Dome

Remember when I was etching stuff and I didn't show you everything I did. Well, that's because some were Christmas presents! So I couldn't show them until today.

Glass Etched Cake Dome
My sister does a good bit of baking. And there's a particular cake she has to take all over the place. So, I got her a cake plate. The plan was to deck it out with polka dots, but she's been playing with my babyBug so, I decided to etch it.

I think the white spots on the etching are from letting it sit too long and when I peeled the vinyl, it peeled up a bit. Still looks awesome though.

(I think this is the same Cake Dome)

INSTRUCTIONS from a few posts back.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

[Cricut] Combining Two Crafts

I won't say exactly WHY I made this. But there is a reason why I'm posting it today. Hopefully it no longer matters, but if it does...and this color might have been mentioned on a recent shopping trip for Christmas decor....DON'T GO BEYOND THE CUT!
Again I state: DO NOT GO FARTHER IF YOU MENTIONED TO ME THAT YOU LIKE THIS COLOR!
And before we cut: IT'S MY BIRTHDAY! And not any birthday, my 30th birthday! BRB, crying forever. This is a scheduled post, btw, so you can comment but I won't see it for a few days. Too busy birthdaying.

[Cricut] Glass Etching

In preperation for Christmas, I decided to test out glass etching with my Cricut. I did some research and found this. A bowl seems like a small enough thing that if I screw it up, it doesn't really matter because I can still use the bowl.

I picked up the same bowl she used as I presumed it would work.
 Bowl, CHECK.

[Thanksgiving] Word Collage

Remember the shelves I put up for Halloween? Well, now that it's not a bar area for the Halloween party, I decked it out for Thanksgiving. But it was missing something! Cricut Word Collage to the rescue!
Not too shabby

Some Catching Up To Do

Whew! I finally have all the Halloween packed up and put away. And Murphy had a little bit to say about me intending to post Halloween pictures this weekend. More on that later. First: I WAS ON CNN. Well, all the USO girls that marched in the parade were, but still.

10 years of marching band. 7 years of school. I'm on CNN because I can sew.

[Halloween] Quick and Easy Decor

While these were not cut with my cricut...you can definitely use your cricut to do it. I just happened to find a pack of cutouts for $1 at Dollar Tree!

The bats are headed towards the attic!
I believe it was Martha Stewart that had the idea to put bats going up the wall like this. I love it.

[Halloween] Masks!

Some people, it seems, have a problem with coming up with a Halloween costume. I don't understand why they wouldn't want to wear a Halloween costume...but it is not for me to judge. However, it is my party. (And I'll cry if I want to!) And I like costumes. It makes it more fun to me, getting to be someone you're not.

Therefore, I have a plan! Remember the mustaches and glasses from before? Well the Chic and Scary
cartridge has masks in it. And what's more fun than a masquerade party! Since Jessica and I couldn't get into the Dragon*Con masq....i'm gonna have my own! So I pulled out papers I thought were good and started going to town.

Bonus for mostly blue and orange!

[Costumes] Other green pigtail moments

OMG, a post that didn't take me forever to think about writing...except it did...because I realized this was almost a month ago (yep, Persacon was that long ago).

I really don't know why (maybe it's the pink tone to my face) but there's just something about the green pigtails that really works. But I knew this going into Persacon, so I kind of made all my costumes for it roll with it. So here's another.

Which Cricut Did I Get?

A few weeks ago I tweeted not sure if I should get the new Cricut,  a pretty aqua blue Expression, or an Imagine. The Imagines were actually cheaper than the new Cricuts, so it was quite the decision.

And if you follow my tweets, you know I'm not happy with FedEx and their delivery of my new addition. But I finally have it! I even had another issue with FedEx today, but at least I was finally able to get it.

Slight spoiler: it was ordered from cricut.com, so that probably means I didn't get the aqua one...

Stamping

I am fairly new to the stamping craft, but I can tell you what I learned. It started with the Tim Holtz stamps. But then I saw some cute Halloween designs on etsy. When I saw them in a different store, I knew they must be stamps and I resolved to find them.

And find them I did at Waltzing Mouse Stamps. They are in Ireland so it took a bit for them to get here but far from the 28 days+ that they warned it might. (Dear Customs....they are JUST cling stamps.)

Look at the cuteness!

These will be so much fun later. Okay, well I played with them tonight too.

Happy Memorial Day...Cupcakes!

I picked up the cupcake wrapper cartridge from Walmart the other day and was dying to try it. And I thought I had red, white and blue cake mix (turned out to be cookie mix). But I did have others and so a friend and I set out to Michael's for red and blue gel dye and cute papers.

Why did my camera port in all the pictures sideways?

We made 3 different cupcake wrappers and attempted our luck at fancier icing.

Katherine Bodice Progress

I think I accomplished a good bit over the weekend, despite feeling like I wasn't home much. Namely, I'm done with the base garment for Katherine's bodice. (Reference picture here.)

From the front

Here's the base bodice not yet ironed and with one of the lace options pinned to it. More details about the goings on after the cut.

Heads Up! Cricut Expression 2 Giveaway at My Pink Stamper

My Pink Stamper is having a giveaway! And it's not just any giveaway, it's for the brand new Cricut Expression 2. Robyn has lots of ways for you all to win, so head her way.

Click the link for giveaway fun times

By the way, she has tons of giveaways for cartridges all the time and gets to go to lots of cricut events, so she's quite in the loop. I would suggest following her even if there was no giveaway.

Felt Problem SOLVED!

http://katie-does.blogspot.com/2011/01/experimenting-with-my-cricut.htmlRemember a few posts ago about the horrible time I was having cutting felt with my cricut? How it SORT OF worked the first time but was a huge mess the second go round? Well, I've RESOLVED that problem. This is a major coup for my Mental Health Day!

Isn't it pretty! I'll explain the difference after the cut.

Video from My Pink Stamper

It's too cute, I can't not share. This came from Robyn at My Pink Stamper on her trip to CHA. I think part of me finds it so entertaining because I'm a huge Auburn fan. We don't treat our mascot like a guy in a costume, we treat him like he's a anthropomophic tiger named Aubie. Thus why we will never let Lee Corso wear Aubie's disembodied head.

Sorry, slight tangent. But you get the point. Aubie's Aubie, not a guy in a suit. And in this video Cricut is Cricut. Makes me want to see them together. Sorry for it being too big for the main part of the page. But watch Cricut have fun with his/her coworkers. And it gets slightly into the new anniversary Cricut. And with my affinity for all things lime green...WANT!

If you aren't familiar with Aubie (and don't understand my tangent), I posted a video to raise your awareness of the winning-est mascot in the NCAA after the cut . Oh and if you want a little plush Cricut, there was some talk about those appearing on the Cricut website after CHA, so you might check it out.

Experimenting with my Cricut

I tested the adhesive felt a while back. Today, I just wanted to play. So first I tested a scrap of craft foam thinking "I have TONS of this leftover". Again, using the Storybook cartridge, partly because those are the letters I want, partly because I think it's my only font cartridge.

Looks okay right? But small? Well, keep going for an ugly mess.

Banner with Accuquilt and Cricut

I think the snow is making me go nuts with the crafting. This time, it's a banner for when I inevitably try to venture into shows of sorts. At least that's the plan. Until then, it's likely to hang on the bookshelves, where I think it will look amazing!
